Explanation of Difficulty

The scale is from 0 to 5, where 0 is an amble along the Paseo to 5 which would be the toughest.

1
This would be where the majority of the route is flat and any inclines would be short and fairly slight. Most of the walking surfaces would be of a reasonable quality albeit not metalled, and the tracks or paths would be wide enough for 2 or more abreast. However there may be short stretches where these conditions don’t apply.

2
This would be a route that has a mix of level ground and inclines/declines although the inclines are not particularly steep but may be longer. The ground underfoot may be a little uneven.

3
A route where there are inclines that are quite steep and could be rocky underfoot, the tracks and paths are quite narrow in places and there may well be some drops alongside of the path. Some climbing over rocks may be involved and effort required.

4
Where considerable distances are along rough and/or rocky paths with steep inclines and declines, or even on better quality surfaces there are a lot of steep climbs to tackle. This type of route would involve some effort and is for the reasonably fit and who enjoy a challenge.

5
This route would be where considerable effort was required and would contain some quite dangerous stretches. No route on the walks that this group tackle would be this level of difficulty.

All of these descriptions are subjective by myself and are based upon my level of ability, but with an element of discretion, bearing in mind my knowledge of the groups abilities.
